Why genre-specific mastering?
At 180 BPM there are 333 ms between two kicks; at 240 BPM only 250 ms. A limiter that works fine on house music will flatten the transient, smear the bassline into the kick and push dense hitech leads into harshness. Mastering psycore, hitech and darkpsy means making a track loud while keeping three things intact:
- The kick: short, punchy and clearly separated from the bass, even at high tempo.
- The bassline: rolling neurotrance or darkpsy basses that stay defined on club systems and earbuds.
- The atmosphere: pads, drones and FX with depth instead of a flat wall of sound.

How much does psytrance mastering cost?
Single (stereo mastering) is €79 per track. Stem Pro (stem mastering, up to 6 stems) is €129 per track. The EP package covers up to 5 tracks for €349 (€69.80 per track, €46 less than five singles), the album package up to 10 tracks for €629 (€62.90 per track, €161 less than ten singles). All prices include 19% VAT, an audio audit and unlimited revisions.
What is the difference between stereo and stem mastering?
With stereo mastering you send one finished mixdown. With stem mastering you send up to 6 groups (for example kick, sub, bass, leads, pads, FX), so problems in single frequency ranges can be fixed directly. For dense psycore and hitech mixes, stem mastering usually gives the cleaner, louder result.
How should I prepare my files?
Export WAV or AIFF at the project's sample rate, 24 or 32-bit, without a limiter or clipper on the master bus and with peaks around -6 to -3 dBFS. Stems should start at the same position and be exported with all their effects. Add a reference track if you have a sound in mind.
Do you master genres other than psytrance?
Yes. The focus is psycore, hitech and darkpsy, but electronic music in general (techno, drum and bass, industrial, experimental) is welcome. Just mention the genre and a reference in your request.
How do I pay and receive my master?
Your choice: pay in advance or by invoice after completion. After your request you get a reply with the details, usually within 24–48 hours. Singles are delivered in 48–72 hours, EPs in 5–7 days, albums in 7–14 days, as 24-bit WAV, 16-bit AIFF and 320 kbps MP3. Revisions are unlimited.
Who does the mastering?
Mastering is done by Code Chaos (Tim Borchert), a hitech, psycore and darkpsy producer from Hamburg with 24+ releases since 2016 and co-founder of the label Abstract Sound Design, running the service as Polished Media.
